BROKEN HOLD ON THE RAILS
A classic Tucson boulder problem recently underwent a minor facelift. A key right hand gaston on The Rails (v6) at Silverbell, which had been flexing for a while, finally gave out and broke off. Fortunately there is a crimp that remained when the hold broke, and although small it isn't too hard to use. The problem was sent after the breakage, and may even be a little easier now.
NEW ROUTES ON LEMMON
A couple of noteworthy new routes have gone up on Mt. Lemmon recently. First, at Jailhouse, a long standing red-tagged project has been completed, resulting in the new route Jailbreak. A sustained and fingery 5.12, the route is supposed to be as high quality as its neighbor, Sentenced To Hang.
And at Beaver Wall, Poplar Mechanics (5.12+) was added to the list of difficult and probably painful routes on the wall. The route shares a start with Right Tissue before moving up and right.
COMP RESULTS FROM ROCKS AND ROPES
Saturday, May 8th Rocks and Ropes hosted the Regional finals of the USA Sport Climbing Series. Results from the comp are up on their website for Difficulty and Speed. Congrats to all the competitors and winners, and good luck to all those moving on to Nationals in Boulder!
JEWEL THIEF GETS ANOTHER REPEAT
This past weekend Luke Bertelsen sent the classic Tucson problem Jewel Thief. One of the harder established problems on Mt. Lemmon, Jewel Thief is a tall, proud line up the center of the tallest face of the Matterhorn Boulder, With hard crimping and a committing crux up high, Jewel Thief is a proud ascent - nice work Luke!

Besides being a ridiculous and pointless activity, bouldering is INHERENTLY DANGEROUS. The information posted on this website is for entertainment and historical purposes only. No one, for whatever reason, should ever attempt to climb a rock. I am not responsible or liable for your decisions or actions. All information contained on this website should be assumed to be faulty - all approach directions are off by at least 6.2 miles, and all topos were drawn by my children.
